Baptism

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Matthew 28: 19-20

 

About Baptism

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Catholic Church, and made sharers in her mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water and in the word.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, Article 1, 1213)

 

Baptism by Age Group

• For Infants (newborn to 6 years old),  Fill out the request for Baptism form available in the Pastoral Center Office, 680 College St. Hollister, CA 95023, office hours Tuesday – Friday from 9 am – 5 pm (12:30-1:30pm closed for lunch) or at our website www.catholichollister.org Attach a copy of the birth certificate with the request for Baptism form and pay $80.00 processing fee.

• For Children (7 to 17 years old), contact the Religious Education office at (831)637-9213.

• For Adults contact the Religious Education office at (831)637-9213.

 

Catholic Church’s Requirements for Choosing Godparents:

The chosen godparents must be baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church, they must give an example of a Christian life and frequently attend the sacraments. They must be over 16 years old and if they are a married couple, they must be wed in the Catholic Church. If only one of the godparents is married and the other is single, the married one must be wed in the Catholic Church. People who profess other religions are not allowed as godparents. (Can. 872-874, Chapter IV) Only one godfather or godmother is necessary. Two women or two men are not allowed.

• Parents and godparents must attend the pre-baptismal class before choosing the baptismal date. Our next class will be _________.

Acerca del bautismo

El Santo Bautismo es el fundamento de toda la vida cristiana, el pórtico de la vida en el Espíritu y la puerta que abre el acceso a los otros sacramentos. Por el Bautismo somos liberados del pecado y regenerados como hijos de Dios, llegamos a ser miembros de Cristo y somos incorporados a la iglesia y hechos partícipes de su misión: “El bautismo es el sacramento del nuevo nacimiento por el agua y la palabra”. (Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, Artículo 1, 1213)

 

Bautismo por grupo de edad

• Para bebés (recién nacidos hasta los 6 años) complete el formulario de solicitud de bautismo disponible en el Centro Pastoral, 680 College St. Hollister, CA 95023, el horario de oficina es de Martes a Viernes 9 am- 5 pm (12:30- 1:30 pm cerramos para el almuerzo) , o en nuestro sitio web www.catholichollister.org Adjunte copia del acta de nacimiento con el formulario de solicitud de Bautismo y pague la tarifa de procesamiento de $80.00.

• Para niños (de 7 a 17 años), comuníquese con la oficina de educación religiosa al (831)637-9213.

• Para adultos comuníquese con la oficina de educación religiosa al (831)637-9213.

 

Requisitos de la Iglesia Católica para elegir padrinos:

Los padrinos deberán estar bautizados y confirmados en la Iglesia Católica; deben dar ejemplo de vida cristiana asistiendo frecuentemente a los sacramentos. Deben ser mayores de 16 años. Si están casados deben estarlo ​​por la Iglesia Católica. Si sólo uno de los padrinos está casado y el otro es soltero, el casado debe serlo por la Iglesia Católica. No se permiten como padrinos a personas que profesan otras religiones. (Can. 872-874, Capítulo IV) Sólo es necesario un padrino o madrina. No se permiten dos mujeres ni dos hombres.
